Who inspires you and why?
My parents are avid readers therefore I learned the importance of books through watching them.
There is a musical called Little Women based on Alcott’s novel. In it there is a song called Astonishing where Jo wants to be remembered for more. She wants to find the courage to follow her dreams and become someone astonishing. This song always resonated with me since I’ve spent the majority of my life wondering what I wanted to be when I grew up, even knowing the only thing I really wanted was to become a writer. Just like Jo March.
When did you start writing and why?
I started writing in middle school, but only little unfinished stories. After graduating college (many years ago) I wrote my first novel (unpublished because I now believe its rubbish). Three years ago, my husband got a new job and moved us from New Jersey to Michigan. I was farther away from family and had to leave my friends behind. The loneliness was all consuming. So, I started to write again. Losing myself in the stories and the characters lives.
What character of yours would you never go into a dark tunnel with and why?
I don’t think I’ve written a character I’d be truly terrified of like that yet. There is a mother that is verbally abusive, and I would hate to have her words directed at me.
Write only one sentence about your recent novel without giving spoilers.
He was avoiding the reality of his life, hoping to stay in denial for as long as possible so that he could have a little something just to himself.
What is your main character’s biggest goal?
To find something real
What is your main character’s biggest flaw?
Stubbornness
Which famous author would you take on a date and why?
Lucy Score. I think any time spent with her would be hilarious.
Tell me why you’re passionate about writing.
To tell you the truth, I don’t know why I’m passionate about writing. It’s just something that has always been inside of me.
What book do you want to read next?
There are too many to name. My TBR list is massive. And more are added every day.
What are your 2022 goals:
