Review #632
First finished read of 2026!
I listened to this with both my kids (age 11 & 12) for our first “family book club.” I’d rate it a 4.3/5 stars, but the first half was better than the second half. Around the 60% mark it felt a little dragging. Overall, we didn’t predict the final “who dunnit” outcome, but DID predict a lot of the little steps/reveals during the story.
Four points of view is quite a lot for a YA age range to track, but I felt like their personalities were different enough to figure out.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
I was a bit frustrated that suicide was the big “climatic” secret because it’s too frequently displayed in YA books and that theme terrifies me.
