Review #307

I finished my Disney vacation read. Whisper of the Tide was a 4.5/5 stars. This young adult pirate sequel was just as good as the first. The middle was a bit slower than I wanted but the conclusion gave me what I was looking for.

Here’s my live thoughts while reading:

I’m not sure how I feel about chapter one being 3 months prior to chapter two. I don’t think I want to know what I learned. And who will betray her? And why?

WHY is a seventeen year old his main guard?

What will the messenger say?!?!

Oh a special bracelet AND a special necklace. Yes!

There’s a lot of new characters on this book. Like Docia and Sophia. Is one of them
The Lady That Wears Blood?

After chapter 13 I’m a little bored. I’m not too thrilled about where the story is going. And so many days have passed. Maybe that’s the point. Maybe the author needed a time filler for whatever happens next once she gets back.

At the halfway mark I’m missing Markos. Melanos is an average filler character but not enough for me. I need them reunited asap.

The climatic scene could’ve given me a little more dramatic emotions and desperation. The way it was written didn’t have me fully believing in her devastation so I knew what was about to happen. I wanted more power.

The ending closed everything up for me and I’m a happy camper. I highly recommend this duology for YA fantasy readers.
