What’s your pen name and tell me about the books you like to write.

I write under my real name, Kayla Krantz. Typically, the books I like to write are darker in nature. When it comes to genre, I can range from fantasy to suspense to drama, but my favorite genres to focus on are thriller and horror.

What’s a secret your hero or heroine might keep from one another?

Secrets about their past. I write a lot of tortured hero/heroines who have a hard time opening up about their past and all the things that they’ve been through.

What is your first sentence of your most recent novel?

Cody was frozen in place as he watched the smoke gather.

What celebrity do you think would like you books most and why?

I think any of the cast of American Horror story because I draw a lot of my inspiration from that series.

What time of day do you do your best writing and why?

I do my best writing in the middle of the night, around 3 am or so, because it’s the most peaceful.

What are you biggest obstacles in writing and how do you overcome them?

Believing in myself is the hardest part of writing. Sometimes, I have a lot of doubt that what I’m creating is any good, and it can be tough to get the motivation up to complete a project. The biggest way I do that is to remember that I do have dedicated readers who are excited for what I write next and that the voices that tell me I’m not good enough are not valid.

Which character would you take on a date and why?

I’d probably take my MC Luna on a date because she’s the one least likely to kill me lol

Tell me why you’re passionate about writing.

From little on, I’ve always loved writing. I have stories in me that need to get out, and I literally have no idea what to do with myself if I’m not writing.

What book do you want to read next?

I need to finish If it Bleeds by Stephen King. I’ve gotten about a fourth of the way through it but had to drop it for a while due to recent life events.

What are your 2022 goals:

The biggest goal I have will be to outline the 7^th, and final, book in my series, Rituals of the Night.
