Review #79

Title- Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians

Rating– 4/5

Genre- YA Fantasy

POV- First person, present tense

Similar Books/Comps– The Book of Chaos

Vibe- humor, sarcasm, unique, original, whimsical

Characters

Alcatraz Smedry- age 13, foster child

Plot/Blurb-

Alcatrez gets a bag of sand in the mail-his only inheritance from his father and mother. He soon learns that this is no ordinary bag of sand. It is quickly stolen by the cult of evil Librarians who are taking over the world by spreading misinformation and suppressing truth. Alcatraz must stop them, using the only weapon he has: an incredible talent for breaking things.

Best part- Action packed and clever cliffhangers

What I’d change- Make it a little longer. This is a five book series, but I didn’t continue reading since it’s more for middle grade, age 12. My kids would love this story.

Quote-

“People can do great things. However, there are some things they just CAN’T do. I, for instance, have not been able to transform myself into a Popsicle, despite years of effort.”

Pacing- Easy/fast
