What are three unique quirks in your (author) personality that is evident in your writing style or books that make you stand out compared to other authors?
Oooo – good question. Let me think. I guess I’m well known for writing realistic, relatable characters. I try to make them human and far from perfect… you know, things like spilling food on their clothing, being a bit of a clutz, giving them zits and blemishes. It’s fun to write these characters in a real way.
I’m also from New Zealand, so I think sometimes my kiwi slang comes through or I use expressions that aren’t as commonly known in the USA.
What are three traits/interests your readers have in common if they formed a BFF book club/fan club?
They love stories with BIG feels, swoony romance and fast-paced action.
They love high school movies from the 80s, 90s and beyond.
They’re Disney fans!
What would your most recent main character say in regards to this question:
“If you were forced to give up something important to complete your goal, what would you never part with and why?”
Cooper: I would never let anything happen to Ashlyn. She is everything, and I’d give my life to keep her safe. I know what it’s like to live without her and I never want to experience that pain again. Now that she’s back in my life, reviving my heart and soul, I will fight for us above everything else.
What’s your highest recommended book that you’ve read by another author in the last two years and why?
Oooo – how do I pick just one? LOL
I just looked back through Goodreads and some of my top reads over the past two years were:
Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson (She’s such a good writer!)
The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes (Top read of 2020)
A Place Called Freedom by Ken Follet (I love all his stuff)
All of these books were beautifully written and gave me the big feels. They kept me entertained, intrigued and turning pages late into the night.
Where would you take your biggest fan on a “date” and what ONE question would you ask them?
I would take them somewhere super fun like Disneyland. We could go on all the rides and chat while we’re waiting in line.
I would ask them about their dreams and see if I could help make any of them come true.
If you had to eliminate something from our planet for eternity, what would it be and why?
Arrogant, selfish behavior. Someone thinking they are better than somebody else causes so many problems and is so destructive. It’s at the root of so much strife throughout history. All we’re called to do is love each other – it’s really not that hard. All it takes is humility and thoughtfulness.
Give me a plug of something you’d love all readers to purchase and why it’s superb.
If you’re a fan of romantic suspense with lovable characters, fast-paced action and a family trying to find each other again, then you should try the Barrett Boys series.
It’s been so much fun to write. I have fallen in love with these brothers and would love for you to escape into their world. It’s uplifting and inspiring watching these sweet bad boys redeem themselves and deal with the pain from their past. I’ve laughed, cried, felt every moment of tension, and had my heart buzzing with warm fuzzies as I’ve written these books. I hope you can feel all of these emotions too.
Awesome! Thank you so much for the great interview 🙂
