Interview with Author, Jemma Ryken
What is a trope/element that you’d NEVER take out of your most recent novel and why?
I would never remove the cannabis element of my stories. I’ve set this as my niche to normalize it’s use and kill the stigma’s surrounding this medicine.
Looking back, what do you wish you had done differently when you first started out?
I wish I’d gotten the entire series written before publishing the first novel, the pressure to have book two out on the same timeline is stressful!
What would your most recent villain say in regards to this question:
“The end of the world would be caused by __________?”
My jealousy
What would your most recent hero/heroine say in regards to this question:
“The one who tries to stop me will ultimately ____________.”
Make me stronger
What would your main character do on a typical, calm Saturday afternoon?
Garden while smoking a doob and singing along to whichever song is playing over her speakers
Where would you take your biggest fan on a “date” and what’s ONE question would you ask them?
An open mic night! I’d ask them to preform lol
What are your goals for 2022?
Getting out the three books I’ve been working on
Tell me you’re a writer without telling me you’re a writer…
My collection of notebooks are prettier than yours 😉
Give me a plug of something you’d love all readers to purchase and why it’s superb.
I know this is where I’d put down something I wrote, but I actually want to shout out Anne Lucy-Shanley! She has an amazing post-apocalyptic series that starts with Mayfly Hollow. I was in loovve from page one and I’m not usually a zombie fan but this was the right balance of zombies and romance.
But, of course, also check out Together Evermore, the first in my Entangled Fates series!
