Review #606

This was a fun book I read at the beach and I rated it a 4.25/5 stars. It was super sweet when I reached out to the author about a hilarious line and she actually replied!

Her random bursts of animal trivia in awkward moments is hilarious.

All the 90s references were a bit too much. Kerry Rea didn’t need to make the reader feel understood THIS much.

At the halfway mark, it’s been a quick read but the heroine is definitely the one with the issues. Usually I’m on her side when she has an agenda against the MMC but she’s also rude to her little sister sometimes.

The climatic moments at the end all felt a little rushed but I’m satisfied with the outcome. Some of the discussion questions were intriguing and ranged quite a lot- like the theme of motherhood, camera/stage freight, connection with animals, “never meet your heroes” concept, childhood dreams, work relationships or work/life balance, grudges, and reality tv shows.
