Review #600
The Shadow Bride by Shelby Mahurin finishes this duology. I liked the first better and rated this one a 4.0/5 stars.
Vampire books bother me for two main reasons
-immortality
-too much blood description
But I love their dark vibes in general
So it doesn’t make sense why Celie’s blood raised the dead. The math doesn’t math there.
New vocab word!: chthonic
One of my fave parts: I absolutely love Mathilde’s character.
At the end of part 2 I’m wondering what was the point of Lou being there?
At the halfway mark I’m wanting more tension between Michal & Celie. Sure the stakes are raised because of the eternal bond. But I want more.

Well… after rereading my comments I kept track of … the rest are quite redundant.
The vampires NEVER dying is kind of annoying. Cuz what are the stakes? Like when Odessa’s spine was snapped. Plus, wouldn’t other vampires also know the rules and not fall so easily for this trick?
Like… how many times can one person die? And why are they telling a ghost to “be careful.” What does she have to lose?
Again?!?!
After chapter 42 when yet another character “dies,” I don’t really care because everyone is dead already and they keep coming back to life anyways.
Omg after chapter 44, there couldn’t possibly be more resurrections…
Basically the second half was tedious and frustrating.
