Tropes: Fake betrothal, touch her and die, shifter romance

As the first child ever born to two different shifters, Nora has lived a sheltered life, up until now.
After a fateful incident, she becomes fake betrothed to the son of the notorious pirate, Captain Kerrigan.
Kerrigan, driven by greed and revenge, is on the hunt for Nora and doesn’t realize she’s hiding in plain sight.

Can Nora endure a week on Kerrigan’s ship without revealing her identity? Or will she be discovered and turned over to the highest bidder?

What is your creative ‘process?’

I don’t really have a specific process. When I’m writing, I like to have my writing playlist playing and I go wherever the characters take me.

Who do you look up to most in this profession and why?

Other indie/self published authors who have already made it to full time author status 🫶🏻

Finish this sentence: “When she reached forward towards the doorknob ….

he called out “Wait, give me a chance to explain.” But she flung the door open and held her head high as she strode from the room.

What is one of your exciting upcoming ideas/themes for a project you haven’t started yet?

I’m excited to try out some contemporary romance! I’ve really only ever done fantasy, but I want to do a Halloween contemporary romance, and a Christmas one this year.

Who is one of your favorite heroines and why?

I’m going to answer one of my own heroines – Andy (Andromeda) from my series Broken Angel because she helped me work through a really rough time with my anxiety and truly saved me. Poor thing also had to go through all that anxiety but we both made it out alive.

Who is one of your favorite villains and why?

This one is harder than the heroine question. I feel like I have so many favorite villains, but the one that popped in my head first was Tristan Faasa from Emily McIntire’s Scarred. I just adore him and have even cosplayed him for TikTok videos. Also, I’m a sucker for the villain becoming the love interest – whether it’s true enemies to lovers or not.

Cassie Swindon conducted this interview. Check out one of her nine published books. The Wicked Blue is a standalone (modern) fantasy romance that some would categorize as PNR. It’s a little mermaid gender swap retelling.
