Review #540
Cruel Winter with You by Ali Hazelwood was average at 4.5 stars but it had unnatural info dumping in parts that felt forced like (hypothetical sentence): “the last time I saw you three months ago when you were still at intern the snow in Northern Illinois was crazy…” Mark’s obsession felt a bit over the top and since it was all from her point of view it never seemed normal for the reader to jump on board. They also did it faster than expected after she had been so resistant for so long. This was my 3rd favorite of the 5 novellas.

Merry Ever After by Tessa Bailey is a fast burn with opposites attract as a gritty 6’6” farmer has his eyes set on the newcomer city-slicker, Evie, a single mother who isn’t looking for any serious relationship. I love when the male’s point of view has a man as a narrator. It’s definitely gets steamy quickly on their Christmas Eve rendez vous. This was my 2nd fave of the 5 novellas.

All By My Elf is a coworker romance. They’re stuck in a car during a winter storm. Nina was unaware her crush liked her, assuming William was into her best friend instead. I wish it wasn’t in third person, but oh well. They have some serious and emotional conversations since they have so much time to fill.

Merriment and Mayhem was my fave of the novellas in the anthology. Fire fighter? Yes please. Strong man rescuing the girl 3x? Usually I’d say no thanks but this worked for me. lol. Strong recommend.

Only Santa in the Building by Alexis Daria was my 4th favorite of the 5 novellas. She falls for her upstairs neighbor and attend a holiday party together. This one got a 4.25/5 stars

All of these had similarities
Tall men
First time together- steamy
Most heroines named Evie
