Review #538
Of all the books I’ve read by this author, The Inmate has been my least favorite so far. I was frustrated for most of it due to the repetition. I also predicted the bad guy so I was underwhelmed. I’ll rate it a 4.0/5 stars.
These were my notes and comments while reading: beware of spoilers
Going back and forth between the past and present seems to be Freida’s signature style.
I understand there’s a need for drama, but the adult FMC is annoying by being so adament she’s right but then so quickly unsure. It feels unrealistic. Instead she should’ve been a little unsure the whole time.
It’s feeling a bit repetitive by how often Brooke is bringing up the possibility of the past repeating itself and calling him a monster a thousand times. She seems a bit naive overall.
Hunts motivation and threats aren’t consistent.
If sandalwood is mentioned once more, I’m gonna throw my shoe across the car.
She changes her mind way too often in a hot or cold mentality. Plus her choices don’t match her thoughts. If she truly starting to suspect Tim why would she date him?
I wanted more from this book. But will still read more by Freida.
