Review #473

The Rebound had me on a roller coaster ride of extreme emotions. So even if the book was terrible (which it wasn’t) I’d rate it high because I barely have strong feelings and am grateful for this book to tug some out of me. I thought about the characters when not reading, was desperate to know how it’d work out, & thought their struggle was realistic. I could understand all the perspectives of each person and all of them had depth shown.

So I rate this an unexpected 4.75/5 stars

Here are my random thoughts while reading: (may contain spoilers)

I’m not thrilled with the female main character since it looks like she’s going to be falling for this new guy at the office weeks or a month after deciding on a “three month break” with her fiance/non fiance.

During chapter 6 now I’m so pissed at him that I hate both main characters lol

If she had already communicated to Archie to she never wanted to get married then he’s a bit of an asshole for ever asking

But she will be an asshole later if she ever agrees to marry Leo

Chapter 16 was weird because right in the middle of the here & now conversation, her narrative said something like “it would be a few more weeks until I  learned he was hiding a lot from me.” That type of “foreshadowing” or future thinking wasn’t shown at all beforehand and threw me out of the story.

I’m mad that she felt changed after 3 therapy sessions.

In chapter 18 there’s a few too many summaries of what’s been going on that jumps forward in time

There is a LOT of feelings during this story because it feels so real and it’s hitting me hard because it’s intense. Which is rare for me.

After chapter 19 I hate how much she’s saying things that she doesn’t mean. She keeps doing “little fibs” that aren’t genuine.

Ch 25 THREE YEARS LATER?!?!
