Review #420

This sequel finished the duology and earned a 4.3/5 stars. I liked the first one better because there were more Goblin King scenes.

Lots of spoilers in my comments:

Has Elisabeth been away from the underworld for more than a year already? I’m unsure if page 25 is a different point of view since these weren’t in the first book.

What do the silver slashes at the throat mean?

Will she find her brother?

Will Josef learn who he really is?

How will she earn money to meet him in Vienna?

Will Elisabeth return to the Goblin King and why? And when?

What exactly does Kathe remember?

How does the grandma know everything she does like a sixth sense?

I think page 38 has the third PoV so far which I’m not thrilled about since it’s not staying consistent with the first book. Also, I just want to know more about the Goblin King, not how poor they are or grandma drama.

I don’t understand The Wild Hunt. They take those who believe and kill those who don’t? Won’t that just leave no one alive and believers all in the underworld?

I’m confused. Is the Goblin King and “the host” the same being or two? This is the 4th point of view and I’m not ecstatic about it.

Why hasn’t she had the thought that the Goblin King would’ve had to find another wife?

Who is the woman with green eyes? Is it the grandma’s long lost sister?

I’m assuming Josef will take the place of the Goblin King? But when and how and why.

What exactly are the “old laws?”

After Part 1 I’m surprised of how much I still like this series since there has been zero plot so far. It’s still all her internal struggle and set up.

I’ve been waiting for page 126 and wished it happened sooner.

What does Josef know and how did he find out and why is he being so cryptic about it?

At the halfway point I’m hooked on what will happen between her and the Goblin King. Despite him barely being in the book.

So the countess is a great granddaughter of the first Goblin Queen that left the Underworld?

Josef and his reflection is interesting but I just want more Goblin King scenes.

I can’t tell if the chapters without an image heading are the stories of all the past goblins kings or myths or legends or only one is true??

Kathe revealed too much too quickly after waiting so long for answers we get so much dropped on us quickly and then Elizabeth doesn’t have time to process it right away.

I wish I had a better grasp on the changelings as a whole and how they work.

Well, at the end I still have some unanswered questions. With 40 pages left I was worried it wouldn’t reach a conclusion so quickly but I’m mostly satisfied with the ending (even though I had predicted it.)
