Nina works is an animal loving introvert mahi works in a bookstore and has a full calendar that can’t be altered. Flexibility and change is not her strong suit. Enter bomb: finding out she has half siblings.

This story seemed like it had different plots. One being found family and one being the trivia love interest boy, Tom. They often didn’t feel connected.

I rated this a 2.5/5 stars and skimmed the second half. Here’s my live thoughts while reading:

The family tree in chapter 6 was super helpful. I wish It was given in the beginning.

My first impression is that the writing is a bit stiff and there’s a lot of telling. Then mid chapter on page 21 it shifts to the guy’s point of view but was unclear at first so I was confused.

Her weekly planning calendar is a cute touch to get to know the character but I can’t read her handwriting in that font so it’s not adding much.

The premise of found (unknown) family is intriguing but the writing is pretty dry. I’m continuing for now to see if I sink into the story enough to stop noticing.

The book club conversation was funny at parts but felt excessively long without purpose.

There’s a lot of head hopping…

So halfway through I’m frustrated by the amount of side characters. It seems as if the purpose of three secondary characters could’ve been condensed into one for a tighter story.

I feel like someone’s going to hate me for this review. I’m trying so hard to like this book because I really want to but Nina & Tom’s interactions are so awkward that it’s cringe worthy and I’m not looking forward for their continued time together.

And I unfortunately find trivia boring.

And some of the dialogue feels stiff and running on and on. Apparently this isn’t the best choice for me but I really hope others give it a try. I’ll still skim some of the second half…
