Review #598

I feel like a different title could’ve been better.

I rated the first half of this series a 4.8/5 stars!!! Beware it ends on a huge cliffhanger after 625 pages.

When I first picked up this book, I didn’t know this duology was in the same world as Serpent & Dove, which is one of my favorite books- so of course ai got super excited from that surprise! (Though, I wish I could’ve binge read them in a row to remember Celie’s past from the other books.)

After Part 1 is over, I’m in love with the French influence. And the many beauty and the beast elements.

I’m wondering how she learned to cross between realms so easily? Also… why is she so set on finding the silver cross necklace without reason?

At the halfway mark I’m very into the plot but want more scenes with Celie & Michal.

“It can happen without us even realizing- we fall in love with an idea instead of a person. We give each other pieces of ourselves but never the whole thing, and without the whole thing, how can we ever truly know a person.”

I have about 100 pages left and I’m still confused why the necromancer needs Celie’s blood specifically?

Well… the necromancer’s identity was underwhelming.

I’m starting the Shadow Bride ASAP
