Review #465
“Some of my favorite things I haven’t even done yet.”
“I felt starved- the wild girl I wanted to be but never quite was, the kind who yearned to devour the world, one sensation at a time.”
I rate this standalone contemporary romance (1 PoV) a strong 4.8/5 stars.
Clementine is a publisher who is still grieving the loss of her aunt, whose apartment she just moved into. Oh and she just broke up with her boyfriend but doesn’t really seem to care or be interested in dating.

Here are my random notes while reading:
Well after reading the first chapter I’m having major dejavu and feel like I’ve already read it…? Which could be a real possibility.
So it feels like the LakeHouse with Sandra Bullock. Or This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens.
I love that pigeons attacked their meet cute. And their names!
North Carolina shout out!
I love Iwan right away but wish I knew how to pronounce his name.
I adore his nickname for her- Lemon. *insert romantic sigh*
SPOILERS AHEAD-
After chapter 12 I have a high suspicion that he has already met her somehow and knows her and is aware of the 7 year slip but she doesn’t remember him because it wasn’t in the cards for them at that time. Maybe he was 26 & she was 22…? Am I doing the math right?
Page 125- expected but OH NO! Will he have memories of her and file a missing persons report?
After chapter 16… wait. If Iwan desperately wanted to find her in his last 7 years he could’ve, right? Since he knew her name from being related to her aunt…?
Page 144- exactly!
Midpoint- I may be saying this because I’m reading while tipsy or reading under the influence (RUI) but this book is amazing. Halfway and I’m literally kicking my feet in the air with the little giggle laugh from enjoyment. Ugh. How is it so good? The back and forth…
[Cringe moment] when she says “all we did was kiss” because… she has to consider now what else might’ve happened that is her current future but his past. Ugh it’s also so confusing.
Oh no. Where did his passion go?
Why is it the “wrong time” in their current timeline if he knows the secret? It wasn’t even a huge reveal… Is the “off limits” problem just because of her job? It doesn’t feel a compelling enough reason.
Oh the end of chapter 30 is rough
I’m happy with their choice in the epilogue. I wish I knew a bit more about her future painting.
Okay so… after the last page, I’m processing. I’m pretty sure I loved this book. Poston did a great job of managing the grief aspect and deeper concepts of family suicide and her feelings involving that.
Overall it felt very layered in a good way. It was balanced to the point of entertaining yet real. Iwan was just (deep sigh).
I think I wanted it to keep going. I want even more of them. Yes, the story feels complete, but I want follow ups in order to stay in their lives. That’s a good thing.
