Review #458
The teacher/co-author FMC 1st chapter felt much more interesting than the second chapter in his PoV when his backstory was given as a CIA agent.
Chapter 4 was distracting in a bad way when she was getting turned on by him helping her put a disguise on when the smell in the bathroom was of trash and urine.
His background chapters from the past have too much exposition
Wait. She’s losing the third member to the same cancer?
I wish it wasn’t fade to black
I think chapter 23 is the first time Carter’s pov is at current moment timeline. Wasn’t expecting that.
There’s a lot more grief discussion than I had expected.
In chapter 26 I’m getting bored by the mystery and their research because there are so many unrelated ties
So I’m not super concerned or invested about the traitors and spies who betray their countries or this list. Because I have no emotional connection to any of them and an overall corrupt government doesn’t intrigue me either. What I DO care about is the fate of Carter and Alice.
Alice chasing doesn’t feel realistic when she has broken ribs…
I liked the outcome but wish I saw more of the climatic events live while happening instead of told later as an explanation
