Review #413

“The girl with moonlight in her veins.”

There are sooo many quote worthy phrases in this book. The prose and descriptions are flawless & beautiful. I was immediately addicted right from the start.

Chapter 1 is from Nora’s point of view. She’s a young witch who finds missing items in the dangerous woods. In a winter storm she finds a missing boy instead.

Oliver has chapter 2. He doesn’t remember why he left the camp or why he wandered through a snow storm or how he survived. But he does remember the threatening stories of the girl who saved his life.

Geez, the imagery, metaphors, and similes are used astoundingly. I love it so far. The ominous moth is used perfectly and even though there isn’t fast movement in the plot or action like I often crave, I’m totally hooked by the energy and anticipation.

What awful thing happened to Oliver? Why doesn’t he trust his cabinmates? If he didn’t run away the first time, why is he choosing to run away this second time? What did he experience in the forest?

At the halfway point I have a prediction about Oliver and Max…

5/5 stars. Everything about it reminded me of Rachel Griffin books. This is one I’d buy to own. The imagery was spotless perfection. I’d change absolutely nothing about this story. Basically flawless.
