I wish I were a more patient person because I heard this one was great. But I didn’t finish.
In the beginning…
There are different sections called Sweet Sorrows but I’m unsure if the book has technically started at chapter 1 or not.
Apparently some sort of prisoner is telling a girl a story of an (underground?) place full of stories and those who keep the stories must volunteer to have their tongues taken out…?
Then there’s some random son of a fortune teller.
Then we get to 2015 in Zachary’s POV (3rd person) but I dont know what the center or focal point of the story is. There’s also a lot of telling and not much showing so far. By page 20, it feels more informative and lacks emotive connection.
But then we go back to Sweet Sorrows that starts as “it began as a dollhouse…” what began as a dollhouse? I’m just not connecting or invested in any character or plot.
Well… I didn’t finish it because I couldn’t determine the purpose. I’ve heard raving reviews so if you’re more patient than me (everyone) then check it out.
