There wasn’t anything wrong with the story or prose or characters. I didn’t get very far mainly because I’m not a huge dystopian reader and it gave a lot of Divergent vibes from the very beginning. The first chapter makes it clear that it’s not young adult since she just had a one night stand with a Commander soldier.
I’m not huge into politics so because there was the military and guns as a primary focus of the opening scenes, it didn’t feel like my kind of vibe.
