Review #569

What Kind of Mother on audio was 4.25/5 stars. What stood out was the authors use of high emotions well … and my biggest critique is sometimes the characters just acted “stupid” and unable to put 2+2 together.

Trigger warnings of sexual abuse and rich white men taking advantage- It’s sickening how so many of the villains are guilty of SA in every genre across the board. I’m so tired of it.

My random thoughts while reading (spoilers):

There’s a lot of repetition in the beginning but the high emotion is done really well for panic and tension and opposite ideas of how to handle this.

The first meeting with the detective in their house is so cringe lol

It doesn’t really make sense that they’re keeping the clothes instead of burning them

It’s a bit strange that two points of view so far are third person and two points of view are in first person narrative. I don’t think Ed or Connor ever needed a PoV
