Review #509
I give this dark contemporary fantasy a 4.25/5 stars. It was less gruesome and murdery compared to the first book and much more relationship focused. Sometimes I had trouble with Lochlean’s internal thoughts since he was so damned poetic. It had two points of view, had great descriptors & deep characters to felt real. I think I liked the first one more but don’t remember what I rated it.
Random comments I wrote while reading:
It doesn’t make sense why Lark is convinced she can’t talk to Sloan or her parents
Why does they want Lorander alive when he’s the villain?
What’s the point of admitting her into a sleep retreat if he picks her up close to midnight and takes her away?
Well goodness the panting sound effects during the sex scene of the audio version was a new experience for me lol.
This high tension scene was done really well and I couldn’t tell if it was because of the prose or the urgency in the tone of the voice actors
