I own both of Constance Sayers other books but this one felt like it had a different vibe. I didn’t get past chapter 3 so the inciting event hadn’t occurred yet when the film swallowed Gemma up. That premise is awesome but I wasn’t into the Hollywood vibe or recording studio and such. None of the characters stood out as likeable and the writing felt bland. That last part surprised me because I’ve loved Constance’s prose in the other books. Possibly I didn’t give it enough of a chance but I’d rather pick up something else for now.
