Review #500!

Can I take a moment and congratulate myself for committing to 500 rambling reviews! Yay!

I’ve heard such a controversy over Butcher & Blackbird which made me more eager to read it. This book isn’t for the faint of heart so the cute cover can be a little misleading. I’m glad there were trigger warnings in the front. Despite the insane darkness, the humor was so hilarious that it balanced out serious scene so well.

I give this book a 4.9/5 stars.

It has two points of view, from serial killers, Sloane & Rowan, both in first person. The steam in the second half is hot and meant for adults. I believe it’s a standalone within a related series of different couples.

Here’s my comments while reading (beware of spoilers):

Raleigh, NC shout out!

I’m obsessed with their personalities and banter so far. It’s a good thing I’m a fast reader so I can easily skim some of the moderate gruesome parts so far and not be effected since the vibe is still playful and funny while they’re doing terrible horrific actions.

At the halfway point, it’s so messed up with the circumstances of their first kiss & I’m a lunatic for fully enjoying this story so far.

The Broken Revelation chapter was done sooo well!

The way Sloane processed the break up conversation while talking with Lark so rationally is the only problem I have with this book so far. She shouldn’t have been able to think so clearly and quickly and felt like an author’s tool to move the story along because of timing.

Finished in less than 24 hours. So fucked up but so good. I guess this makes me question my sanity a bit.

I’m unsure if I’ll read the next one because – that was A LOT and I had to simply not focus on the gory details. But I seriously had the best time reading that. Like does the author have to complete some sort of mental health test to be oh published first? Lol.
