Review #489

I gave this audiobook a 4/5 stars. It was pretty “mundane” in terms of plot and what was going on. Nothing out of the ordinary or memorable so it was majorly relationship based. As two adults who had dealt with the foster system , Warren & Chloe are paired together in the same housing in hopes to remain the guardians of their younger siblings. Their start is a bit rocky when they don’t see eye to eye but eventually fall in love. Big surprise lol.

Their steamy scenes were hotter than I expected which was great. Unfortunately I never liked Warren much. The author was trying to make him arrogant but sweet. To me he still seemed too cocky. Warren being so hot and cold back and forth is quite a turn off. And his choice at the end felt inexcusable and felt that she forgave him too easily.

Side note- Plots with newborns are quite stressful for me. I’m glad that it was portrayed as light and feathery so I didn’t have to relive post partum trauma yet it was shown as unrealistic for how easy it was for Chloe to care for a premie without experience and she’s only 24…

I believe there are more standalones in this series but I don’t think I’ll be reading those.
