Review #446

I give this contemporary romance novella an average 3.5/5

I read it as an audiobook, 2 POV and 2 narrators.

Here’s some random thoughts and notes:

The FMC’s opening idea to change magazine spreads to find a different readership population. Which is very hard to do without redoing the entire company. So when she gave an example of the readership she’s targeting, and how it’s 180 turn from what their current demographic is made me feel like it’s not realistic. Idealistic yes but not doable.

Ugh I love Donovan’s voice.

The characters are relatable but I  keep tuning out, unsure why.

I had a rant this morning with a friend about so many books with the premise or social issues & I feel as if it’s overwritten recently. So many repeating themes become exhausting such as an exact quote from this story:

“Viewing women as sexual beings”

What I’d prefer is reading a story where our goal is represented as a reality instead of hoping for the change.

Their shift from rivals to interested felt too abrupt

The sex scene felt incomplete since it was steamy with foreplay and had spicy terms and movements described but then was cut short and unfinished
