Review #426
So I absolutely loved the first book of this duology by Lexi Ryan and gave it a 5/5 stars. The only thing I would’ve wanted more of was a tiny spice for the sex scene, but it’s considered YA romance. I’m scared that Bash is on this cover because it’s not who I want her to end up with.
My random thoughts & notes while reading:
If Abriella still possesses the crown’s powers, then it feels like a replicated plot of the first book so hopefully there’s some variances.
I’m surprised that so much explanation of politics (in chapter 6) didn’t bore or confuse me.
I’m not a huge fan of psychic mind reading powers in characters. But I assume Misha’s gift will serve a bigger purpose later on
Wait… Brie also has random empathy abilities? She’s starting to have too many strengths.
If there isn’t some crazy cool weapon made from all this hair the goblins keep I’m gonna be severely disappointed…
Misha is annoying since he answers her questions by reading her mind without her asking them aloud.
The Underworld? That just took an unexpected turn …
I’ve been rooting for Finn but I hate how their interaction went when he demanded to share Abriella’s bond temporarily.
I truly don’t know which guy she will pick at the end of the which is nice that it’s not predictable.
After chapter 14 I’m a bit bored by the redundancy of so many chapters ending in her going unconscious.
I’m at the halfway mark & am glad that she gets to spend more time with Finn.
Why did the dream-version of herself have a slightly different personality?
Secret identity has been found!!!
I gotta admit that royalty themed books often annoy me but this one is doing a good job.
In chapter 23 they need to explain Tethering more. And she needs to stop acting so undeserving and insecure by asking them all why they don’t hate her.
Both males have treated her as a prize to be one at some point and it’s frustrating that the toxicity continues even when mild.
In chapter 24 I’m glad the stakes are raised with Lark being threatened, but I wish the villains had a more active role at this point since it’s nearing the last 100 pages and they haven’t made a big move.
“I’d chose to love you even if I’d known what was coming. I’d chose to love you through the pain of knowing I can’t have you. I wioo choose to love you still tomorrow. I could sooner choose to stop breathing than stop loving you.”
“If it never happens, I still get to live in a world that has you in it. And I will relish every moment of that. Even if you’re never mine, I will always be yours. Love like this is worth hoping for.”
Chapter 31 was great! I expected something like this but didn’t fit all the pieces together to predict the exact outcome.
Aaah! I truly loved this duology. There was barely anything that frustrated me. Of all the duologies I’ve read, one usually outdoes the other. But they were both so good! I’m afraid to give this sequel a 5/5 stars too, but it doesn’t make sense not to. I honestly can’t find a fault
