Review #422
LOVE the cover.
I gave this tiny/short novella a 4.0/5 stars but I feel a bit cheated. Based on the pricing of the book, I had expected a full length novel since its prices are comparison to those that are 300+ pages. On Amazon, this isn’t classified as a novella or short story that I could find when I reread the blurb.
I finally noticed that the print length showed 74 pages, but my copy was actually only 57 pages and that included a teaser chapter from one of R.L. Davennor’s other books. So the actual story I signed up for was only 49 pages which makes me wonder if the formatting accidentally cut off a large section during editing or if it was marketed incorrectly.
Either way, the story itself was good. I’d read a full novel of these characters, plot, & premise. But since it was so short, everything was limited and I felt a bit disappointed. Nothing had the chance to be fleshed out since too much was being pushed into such a short amount of time and page count. The ending was also unclear. I didn’t mind this since the novella was so short I had only invested in these characters for about 30 minutes of my time. But if it were a whole novel, I’d be upset from that conclusion.
