Review #412

I gave this clean, quick romance a 3.8/5 stars.

Here’s my live thoughts and comments while reading:

Chapter one has a lot of voice, which I like. I feel like I already understand Jenna. It’d be nice to have some contemporary romances that don’t have weddings as part of the plot though.

The exposition style isn’t my favorite so I haven’t felt immersed yet but the characters are likeable and since it’s an autumn book I’ve decided to choose it for Thanksgiving week. Romcoms are a hit or miss for me. They either smash it out of the park or I DNF 50/50. Which is why I don’t own many (besides this book) and borrow most contemporary romance from the library. Have any great suggestions in first person narrative?

The plot is definitely she’s trying to return a lost fifty dollar bill since there’s a personal message written to someone on it. Her efforts make the reader like her since it’s not much money and she has no leads.

Halfway-  it’s a basic and “flat” plot but cute and fast read. I’m wondering how I’ll believe she likes him later when she says he’s so boring now…

It feels like the author keeps skipping over important moments and then summarizing them after the fact. It makes the story less interesting when not shown on page.

I’m all done. This was a cute, quick, clean romance, meant for October. I read it Thanksgiving week but the climatic scene was Halloween night. This isn’t a book that will stand out as memorable for me but I enjoyed a break from heavier world building fantasy with this palate cleanser.
