Introducing: Tee Harlowe!!!
New release Mirror of Malice
AND
… author of Spindle of Fire which has tropes of enemies to lovers, reluctant hero, antihero, redemption arc, cursed princess, & fairytale retelling.
How long have you been writing?
6 years on the trad pub path, 1 year for Indie
What most inspires your writing?
A lot of what I read and watch! Growing up, I always loved fantasy and Disney, so now I love being able to merge those two interests to be able to write fantasy romance, specifically fairytale retellings. I think it’s so fun to take classic stories and put my own spin on them.
What is your creative ‘process?’
I don’t know that I have one? Ideas come to me all the time from so many different places, and a lot of times after I get that “spark” I either need to ruminate on it a bit and see if it has enough for a full story, or the story pretty much immediately comes to me, and from there I can really easily plot it all out. I’m definitely a plotter and like having all the clear beats in place before I start writing!
Who do you look up to most in this profession and why?
I don’t know that there’s just one person. I’m inspired by all the authors who are following their dreams, putting themselves out there, finding readers, and making their goals happen (cop-out answer, I know 😭).
What is the hardest thing about being an author?
I think the hardest thing for me is the business side of it. I love writing, and I actually am learning to love the business side, but it can be hard when that thing you love also becomes your job, and you can’t just be a creative anymore, but you also have to learn to be a business person and a marketer and a data analyst and so many more hats we have to wear as authors.
What’s something unique about yourself or your writing?
I’m a huge traveler. I’ve been to eighteen countries (and counting), and I’ve lived in Oaxaca, Mexico; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; and Düsseldorf, Germany.
What is your favorite candy?
Reese’s peanut butter cups, hands down.
Finish this sentence: “When she reached forward towards the doorknob ….
she felt an electric zap that, at first, she thought was just a shock, but soon, she realized it had awakened something deeper, something more powerful than she’d ever felt before.
What is one of your exciting upcoming ideas/themes for a project you haven’t started yet?
Stars in the night sky 😌
Who is one of your favorite heroines and why?
Probably Nina Zenik from Six of Crows. I love that she’s funny, confident, and also that she goes through hell and comes out on the other side. She’s able to find beauty in life after terrible loss, and I really love seeing her growth throughout the series.
Who is one of your favorite villains and why?
Oooh the Darkling, because, I mean, come on, have you seen Ben Barnes?
Without having to wait any longer ….
He’s the villain in his story, but he could be the hero in mine.
Apparently I’m cursed. I don’t remember pricking my finger on a spindle or falling into an endless sleep. And I certainly don’t remember asking hero after hero to attempt to save me.
They come to vanquish the nightmares that ravage me, only to flee when they realize I have no memories of the princess they’re expecting to meet.
I’ve given up hope I’ll ever be free.
Until the mercenary stumbles into my curse. Madden is dangerously handsome, a hit man with secrets. At first, I’m sure he’ll bolt, just like everyone else.
Instead, he forces me to do something I’ve never done: face my nightmares. As we battle the terrors together, pieces of my memory return. Yet I still know little about Madden’s past . . . or why he’s helping me.
The closer we get to breaking this curse—and to each other—the more I realize it’s not just my life on the line anymore—it’s my heart.

He’s supposed to be my salvation, but he might just become my ruin.
I’m a prisoner in my own castle. Trapped by my apple-loving narcissist of a stepmother, desperate for my betrothed to rescue me.
