(Review #391)

I flew through The Layover by Lacie Waldon and barely wrote any notes since I was so absorbed. Contemporary romance is a hit or miss for me. They’re either DNF or almost 5 stars and this one is a 4.9/5 rating. I loved so much about it. Ava and Jack are adorable. Highly recommend this clean romance. (Told from one PoV in first person present tense)

Ava is newly engaged so she is taking her last trip as a flight attendant before giving up her career for a committed future to anchor her in one spot.

It’s been hard to fully like her since she’s engaged and the love interest is obviously not her fiancé. But when we get to the halfway point, events happen they make me feel okay. Her grumpiness is relatable overall and I’m glad she hasn’t backed down from loving her career.

This quote encompasses my daughter :

“___ is a person who is not scared of emotions. She embraces them. The good and the bad. The delight and the rage. It’s impossible to imagine her making her so small or worried about being left behind. She’s so big, she’s impossible to escape.”

Omg Eddie and Celeste are my new favorite random couple of any book ever. lol.
